Think about working on aircraft - you have mechanics standing near running jet engines almost unimaginatively loud and able to suck you up in a heartbeat with no problem. Good mechanics tend to become very possessive of the items in their care. While there would be exceptions, I don't think it would be a common problem. How often do you hear of animal haters joining a K9 outfit or becoming a vet? And with sentient Ogres, I think you'd be approaching a medic/patient relationship more than a "you target - me mincemeat" approach.
The jet won't decide that your maintenance schedule is secondary to the
bogeys it's detecting on its radar horizon and bowl you over in an
impromptu takeoff as you're about to open an access plate.
An OGRE is not an inanimate tool. It has a mind of its own. And therein
lies the problem.
Prior fluff has indicated that OGREs in maintenance and back at
repple-depple waiting for deployment are shut down to the extent of being
disconnected from their weaponry, et al. That would not be the case when
working on one in the middle of an active free fire zone.
