Hello,
This is my first mailing list submission 'though I've been reading this for
quite a while. I notice the message submissions are on the small side so if
I write too much here go ahead and cut away...
1) Regarding robot created Ogres, it's totally possible. I work as a
translator of Japanese robot manuals for Kawasaki and a comment given by
someone earlier that there are no humans building cars is true. Robots do
the dirty work like assembly, arc and spot welding, car body painting, and
they do detailed work like wafer production in clean rooms. I'd bet that
every major auto maker in the world couldn't survive without a Japanese
robot, unless you're talking about limited productions made by luxury car
makers with British or Italian brand names. Sadly, when I saw the company
US Robotics in the movie 'I, Robot' I could only think 'Hell, there is no
American robot maker!' We're totally reliant on foreigners to provide this
technology that has awesomely high demand.
2) If anyone wants to play OgreGEV/Shockwave by email, I'd love to. Where
do I find a partner for this? I harken back to the Metagaming days and my
friends who played the game with me then just call me 'uber-geek' and ignore
pleas for a rematch. So, I'm not a gaming newbie but I'm a newbie when it
comes to doing it by email/chatroom. Heck, I'd even play the GURPs version
via email but that's gotta be pretty labor intensive. Anyway, how would it
work? Give each other hex numbers on the board and just employ the honor
system when making CRT rolls? Due to time zone difference chatroom may not
be feasible for me but I could reply once per 24hr...
3) Though I know quite a bit about robots I know very little about
ballistics and I was fascinated about the discussion going on earlier about
armor piercing/penetrating power of weapons today. My friend sent me this
link and it kept me from sleeping well last night, so I want know if this is
25, 50 or 100% B.S. http://www.elchulo.net/files/pentagon.swf
(Non-group responses welcome as well.) These people contend some
penetrating missile/small plane went through 3 layers of Pentagon walling
and not the B-757. Conspiracy theory? Can someone enlighten or help me
debunk this.
Thanks, and looking forward to playing.
