Hi, I am new to this list, and figure I will just jump
in with a variant I made up. It is a new Godzilla,
which is almost entirely different from the version
posted in Pyramid.
***
Godzilla has 60 Body Points, and dies when he loses
all of them. He regenerates 1 BP at the beginning of
each turn, but may never have more than 60 BP.
BP are attacked the same way as treads, but Godzilla
does not permanently lose movement points based on his
body points.
During his turn, Godzilla moves 4 spaces and then
attacks 4 times with 8/2 Atomic Breath. For every 5 BP
lost during the previous enemy turn(s), Godzilla loses
a move and an attack. Thus, if Goji took 12 damage in
the last enemy turn, he would get to move two hexes
and then attack twice on his turn.
Godzilla moves like an Ogre, but he does not get
permanently stuck (instead simply losing the rest of
that turn's movement), and he suffers no penalty in
water. In addition, he treats water like road. He may
not attack while underwater (like Ogres).
He may shoot cruise missiles as if he were a laser at
range 4, and may make an attempt on each missile each
time it moves and is still in range (thus, he'll
likely get 4 shots at each missile trying to nail him
at range 0).
Atomic Breath is doubled in overrun combat. Godzilla
may also ram (i.e., stomp) as if he were a Mk. V.
I estimate Godzilla to be worth 200 points.

As for playtesting, I have tested him twice. He won
one and lost one. His ideal strategy seems to be
avoiding large groups, instead using his mobility to
scatter enemy forces and then attack and decimate
small groups. If the enemy can gang up on him suitably
(note that he is particularly vulnerable to infantry,
as he has no AP guns for overruns), they can slow him
down enough to gradually defeat him.
One strategy which I have not yet tried may prove to
be broken: if Godzilla can get underwater, he can
avoid almost all attacks while regenerating. Though
this problem could be countered with howitzer
placement, that would be tedious. Instead, the humans
could be given a D2 M1 (MSL) crawler carrying the
Oxygen Destroyer, which destroys all life in a body of
water, and makes it uninhabitable. This would start
the game at the defender's CP. Any non-stream body of
water it entered (this would also eliminate the
crawler) would become impossible for Godzilla to
enter; in addition, if he was in it when the Destroyer
activated, he would be instantly killed (see Godzilla,
King of the Monsters).
So, please let me know what you all think.
Thanks!
Donald
