Oh, yes, there is....

Ah, this would explain it -- long-service _Car Wars_ players know
enough to never read SJG errata pages, as the "fix" will always be
worse than the original problem.

And what exactly is your role in this abominable stupidity?

And another 4 or 5 to bludgeon a hole through the defenders. That
is where the scenario falls apart.

Columbia River here in Portland -- one side has a gentle transition;
the other doesn't. (Of course, GEVs don't play here due to a feature
not found in "normal" _O_ -- namely, altitude.)

A little micronuke combat engineering, anyone? :)

Or (and I know it means adding rules), have a means of indicating
on the hexside itself whether the river has a gorge or not.

Yes, but not *that* pronounced (at least, the places where it is are
also so rough, GEVs wouldn't work there anyway...).

This is where I have problems -- eventually one has to deal with
"the official rules". Having been screwed over more than once by
by poorly-written rules (guess which game...), I get a little annoyed
when editors and "rules monkeys" make fixes that cause even
worse problems.

Which leaves two unit types: OGREs (incl. SHVY), and INF.
