Going purely off of gut instinct (and not at all off of errata/rulings) I
would say that although this trick is cool, it's also illegal... because the
ASANHCfBtHE (phew!) are not "participating" per se, but rather are powering
a Plot card.

Subject: [INWO-list] Dirty Trick? Advanced Supersonic.....
Hi all,
I'm not sure that this trick is legal. It all depends on the definition of
"participate" in an attack.
Dirty Trick: Advanced Supersonic NanoBots from Beneath the Hollow Earth
Back in the day, it was possible to use the disaster Flesh Eating Bacteria
for a pretty efficient one-card seppuku. Then errata was added, making the
disaster require a science action, which means a lot of action tokens for
multiple disasters.
Unless the Bacteria is paid for by the Advanced Supersonic Aluminum Nazi
Hell Creatures. If the disaster succeeds you get your disaster back, and
since the Creatures participated in a succesful attack, they also get their
token back.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Martin
