Hi Steve,
good to hear from you :)
>You may declare the initial link when you first play the Resource, but
>can't change it except in the
>Main Phase of your turn.
Glad to hear that's how it works.
However, the only thing that the WDH1.1 states about it is: "You may link 2
cards in play that you control during the main phase of your turn." (p.14 -
right under the links header).
>So, if my groups is bounced to hand, can I relink it's resources later, or
>not.
Things to consider:
As stated, the rules specifically state that the resources are not
destroyed.
However, if you lose a group to Upheaval (discard) and you can not relink on
your turn, then the card is effectively lost. (Except that Adepts may still
count it towards goals).
>2) The rules only mention that if a group is returned to hand, then the
>link becomes temporarily illegal.
>What happens if a resource is returned to hand (with Gremlins)?
>Does the link to the resource no longer in play still exist.
>Or is the link annulled/gone.
Things to consider:
The rules mention that some resource links are permanent - and goes on to
say that such links can not be changed unless a plot or special ability
specifically says so. (p.14 right under moving links).
I assume that the cards referred to here are Backlash, Gremlins, and
possibly Forgery?
AFAIK, the only _permanent_ resource links are to Big Prawn, Black
Helicopters, and links created by Evil Geniuses and Count Dracula. Only
Black Helicopters actually states "permanent link" - the rest state stuff
like cannot be chganged by any means.
I'm not sure what trumps what here.
However, assuming that a Gremlins card _could_ trump these superlinks (as
the rule _might_ imply), then your ruling on the above question could have 2
implications:
1) If the link still exist when the resource is bounced, then that would
mean that a Gadget controlled by the Evil Geniuses which was returned to
hand, would still belong to them if another player played that resource.
I.e. the other player puts the resource into play, but the link is
*re-activated* and goes to the Geniuses.
2) If you rule that the link is annulled, then a Big Prawn bounced to hand
might be played again for the full benefit on a later turn.
Alternatively, permanent link and "this resource can not be changed" is not
the same thing at all, in which case there doesn't exist a card which can
change a permanent resource link. In that case I don't think that your
ruling will have any in-game effect.
OK, it was long-winded, but I'm just trying to help :)
Martin
