Which always struck me as kind of odd, since, in medieval astrology, 
tin is the metal of Jupiter.  "This metal said very different things to 
the imagination before the advent of the canning industry," C. S. Lewis 
remarked in "The Discarded Image," his overview of the medieval 
world-picure.
