They say Habbalah are the tormentors of the Damned. And it is true -
the Habbalah whip and berate and torture the Damned. They always
ensure that those in Hell remember that this is Hell and that they
deserve every torment. Other Bands torture the Damned for fun -
Habbalah do it because it is, they say, God's Work. But they are not
the worst of the tormentors in Hell.

Shedim, every day, in little ways, are worse.

A Damned soul is not as deep into the pit as it can go. Because even
in Hell, there is a light. Some of the Damned seem to understand - it
was their fault they came here. And maybe they can prove they've
changed. Not many. But some.

And then they hear the voice. Not every one every day, but the voice
always comes back.

"It wasn't your fault. You were in a bad environment. You were
forced to do it."

And most of them get angry. The voice is right.

"It wasn't your fault. Look at them. They're judging you. They
think they're better than you."

And most of them nod quietly, glaring at the Damned soul that the
voice refers to.

"They deserve this. You were forced into it - but look at that
wretch. That wretch damned himself willingly."

And they tighten their fists.

"You don't deserve this. You're better than them. Show them."

The Shedim are far worse than the Habbalah could ever be. Once a day,
every Shedim in Hell makes the place a little worse. It's never a lot
worse - there isn't that much worse to get. But every day, a little
worse.

The Habbalah can only torment the Damned. It takes a Corrupter to
make the Damned torment themselves.
