And this gets interesting when rumours of heavenly Redemptions crop up, as the Habbalah *agree* with them. Yes, they're incredibly painful, and sometimes you don't survive. Sometimes you will have abilities torn away. 
So other demons, hearing about Redemption, will filter what they are said through the lens of Habbalite hazing rituals: and assume that the risks, pain etc are because the angels will be torturing them into submission.
