There's a contradiction between the Core rules and the AGP as regards the
Mercurian dissonance conditions. According to the Core rules, Mercurians
take dissonance for violent actions against humans. According to the AGP,
they take dissonance for violent actions against anything but Hellspawn.
("Mercurians generate dissonance through violence, unless the object of
their rage is Hellspawn." - AGP:63)
Ethereals aren't human, but also aren't Hellspawn. (For that matter,
outcast angels, or even angels in good standing would be in the same
category.)
I don't know what the canon response is, but in my own campaign, the
dissonance only applies to violence against humans. I haven't had to
decide about the edge cases, such as Saints, Undead, Remnants....
Although I'm sure the Game's Humanity Attunement qualifies for dissonance.
