The Ethereal Forces being tied to memories is more a mechanics way to
have certain things happen...

To reconcile it with more voluntary donations... Call it the difference
between something being ripped away violently, versus something being
smoothly drawn away -- the first, there's no time to "copy" the
memories into the remaining Force(s). The second is done in harmony, and
all the Forces are resonating correctly so that nothing is truly lost.
