While Impudites will look to Limbo for victory, the
body-hopping Shedim turn to The Marches. Entering
Beleth's realm whenever their hosts' sleep, this is
their second home – and second Word. Ultimately, all
Shedim are Shedim of Nightmares; here they can learn
CorpDreams (cheaper than the Song of Possession, so
better when a host is killed), learn to craft horrific
dreams (including legions of figments – the Shedite
can add hundreds to a dreamscape every night) and even
corrupt their hosts, by teaching them to fantasize
about revolting acts.
Victory for the Shedim is via the 'honorary Shedim' –
Beleth and Kronos. Possessing Sorcerers, the Shedim
can drive them to Summon demonlings to the Corporeal,
literally emptying Hell. Those without Vessels can
grow over time, but when they finally become demons?
Only by becoming Shedim can they hope to remain on the
Corporeal. Demonlings with Vessels can be Possessed(by
Song), and the Vessel killed – stranding them in The
Marches to serve Beleth.
Meanwhile, driving their hosts into battle against
angels and other demons, the Shedim triumph. It is
easier to get rid of the dissonance of a slain host
than to get a new Vessel, after all – and few angels
or Impudites are willing to kill their hosts anyway.
And then the Corrupters can remake the world in their
image!
While shortsighted Corrupters drive their hosts to
destruction, gladly seeking Saminga's vision of a
world of death and carnage, the more insightful follow
Malphas' dream of a divided world, in which vices war
against each other. The Shedite victory is the most
disturbing, revolting world – humans are driven to
ever more twisted vices, are begotten in rape,
disciplined by torture, live short ugly lives. Needing
to corrupt their hosts, the Shedim must learn to
encourage competing vices, teaching humans to be too
cowardly to be violent, and then too hateful to care.
But rarely going to Hell. Part of the twisting and
corrupting will be to teach humans dreamcrafting, and
guiding them to become dreamshades upon death. Able to
enter a dreamscape by their resonance, the Shedim will
prefer humans to become 'shades than Damned Souls: in
The Marches the humans can still be possessed. This
allows the use of dreamscapes as refuges, and the
dreamshades serve as a 'Discord dump' via the Songs of
Corruption, and are stripped of essence by
CelSymbiosis. Domains Aspected to corruption will
become homelands for the Corrupters, aiding their evil
Songs.
Meanwhile on earth the Shedim will force humans to
have far too many children, devastating the world, and
creating an endless supply of hosts, dreamshades and
zombis.
And when you thought it couldn't get any worse...it
always gets worse with Shedim. Why should animals, or
plants, or the very stones escape? Able to possess
humans, the Shedim will seek to spread their resonance
further. Mixing bestiality and the Songs of Fertility
is their first choice, seeking the creation of new
races to corrupt. Should that fail (or even succeed)
they will turn to genetic engineering to spread the
'seed of darkness' that they exploit in humans.
Soldiers make excellent hosts, so they will interbreed
with their victims, encouraging the rise of powerful,
useful lackeys.
Then, no doubt – things will get even worse...perhaps
they will learn to breed mortals with undead?
With Shedim, there is always something worse!
