Unless they are possessed by a Kyriotate. For the duration of the
possession, after all, the host becomes a vessel in many respects:
it does not age, it does not produce new gametes, and it does not
need food.
(Or, to be more nitpicky about this... Where is the unclarity that
does not make this explicit? I can wield the red pen of errata if
necessary.)
On the other hand, I would _tend_ to rule that individual units in a
swarm counted for purposes of dissonance -- there's got to be something
to keep Jordi's Hives under control, and a Belialite with a flamethrower
_should_ be scary even if they've got five zillion wasps. I do not
underestimate the terror of what a Kyriotate of Jordi can do if it
has the right Songs. *twitch*

And on this side... It would have to be the Song of Possession, if
the GM even allowed that, or no dice -- Shedim possess humans,
barring a Princely Band Attunement to the contrary. You would probably
need a Prince of Beasts to get Shedim possessing animals. Or a
Prince of Locusts for bugs.
Which isn't to say that GMs shouldn't do that, but they should be
aware they're doing a bit of a two-step upon the canon, so that
the players and GMs don't wind up staring at each other in mutual
confusion and frustration. Mutual frustration is bad.
Moral: know where the lines are, and then invite the players to come
trip the light fantastic over them with you.
