Or the stars themselves. I could imagine Nybbas taking a holiday as the
latest 'professional celebrity', influencing a few millions through
gushing articles in newspapers and magazines, then either quitting
while he's ahead with a suicide (no difficulty for a Demon Prince to
arrange a suitable body), or assigning the declining Role to some
underling who's displeased him (which would be one explanation for
those has-been celebrities who pathetically cling to their former
status, rather than trying something new).
Nybbas is subtle; he could do something like that for the eventual bad
publicity when the media turn on the celebrity. Articles attacking a
has-been still serve the word of Media, while encouraging a certain
sanctimonious selfishness in people sneering at celebrities, and
possibly a knock-on effect on any cause or product they've espoused.
