An intriguing notion that makes sense. However, anyone openly famous
is likely to have undergone extensive investigation, and part of a
Role's utility is that it prevents detection. I'd propose instead that
Nybbas' Role is "mysterious arbiter of taste," or "the man who secretly
controls the mainstream media": someone everyone has heard of, but no
one can put a name to (oh, they try, but they come up with everyone
from George Soros to Rupert Murdoch), and maybe only half-believes in.

He doesn't need to live the Role to keep it up because his demons do
that for him; they *make* him the Arbiter. He can simply summon the
identity whenever he wishes to interact with the trendsetters. He
shows up in Milan, or at the New York shows, and nobody questions
whether he belongs there; of course he does. During those times,
anyone human who sees him instinctively knows that this is the man who
pulls the strings of society... very heady, a bit of a lie, but very
authoritative. He can make you, he can ruin you, he *is* Status
incarnate. Very handy for getting people to toady without interfering
directly with their free will via resonance or Song.
