The Liars persuade Hell that they can win the war,
that they are right, that victory is theirs.
It's easy to persuade those who want to believe your
lies.
It's harder dealing with angels; they don't want to
believe the same things. So angels and demons fight;
and as far as the Balseraphs are concerned, the
fighting will only end when Heaven wants to believe
what a Balseraph says.
Suppose come Armageddon, Baal manages to defeat
Michael. Then, bruised and battered from that battle,
he'll need to face David and Janus and who knows
who else? But he's a Liar; and all he wanted was to be
proven right. Why fight them when he can resonate: "I,
Michael, have defeated Baal!"
All Heaven would want to believe him; would be looking
forward to that being true. Believing his own
resonance, he would then lead the host to victory
against the Horde.
The painful truth for Hell is that a Balseraph will
happily sell everyone else down the creek without a
second thought. And Hell is lead by Balseraphs. So
maybe it's already happened!
Even when fighting Michael, it would have been clear
to Lucifer that his rebels were losing the battle.
Maybe he lost to Michael, sure. Or maybe he defeated
Michael, realized that his rebellion was a failure,
and persuaded everyone that he was Michael: and the
'Lucifer' in Hell is a tricked Michael (or Metatron!)
who only believes that he's Lucifer. From a hellish
perspective, it would explain why Dominic put him on
trial until Lucifer/Michael told everyone that God
had personally acquitted him. Maybe Lucifer resonated
that he was Yves, and Kronos is actually the real
Yves, trying to make sense of the delusions imprinted
in his mind. Maybe Mammon lurks beneath Dominic's
cloak?
Heaven can laugh at these slanders, of course. Demons
say that the angelic amusement is proof of how well
they've been duped.
But what do demons think? Do they realize that no
matter what happens, the Liars will betray them?
Of course not. The Liar Princes told them that they
can be trusted - so clearly all is well.
Hope people have enjoyed this series! James.
