IN> [Asmodeus Month] Investigating Technology

Other than avoiding being blown up, The Game's main
concern with Technology is breaking up the alliance
with The Media. Technologists gain dissonance if
angels or humans get a chance to examine their
artifacts; Fakers gain dissonance unless they generate
stories for The Media. Asmodeus immediately saw that
this could only end badly, and Gamesters are expected
to destroy this alliance before dissonance sends the
Experimenters Renegade en masse. Any time a
Technological device appears on TV, Asmodeans swoop,
determined to ensure that secrets haven't been
revealed.
Of course, if the technology is secret, then the
Hounds have no idea what they are looking for!
Typically Gamesters kick in the Vapulan's door, show
them the tape as 'evidence' (backed by Argument of
Casuistry) and rant about what a serious security
breach this is. After all, (they say) if even The Game
recognizes the potential of the device, what will
happen when Lightning and Revelation see the tape? How
long before Heaven reverse engineers the idea?
Success for the Asmodeans depends on the Technologist
filling in the gaps. An unsure or insecure
Experimenter will likely persuade himself that yes,
there is enough information there for Heaven to
discover technological secrets. An admission of guilt
is all The Game needs.
The Hounds also appeal to the Vapulan's vanity; their
demonic pride makes them very willing to believe that
their own experiments are of world-shaking importance,
and so more willing to take The Game's accusations
seriously. More than one Technologist has gone to his
execution smugly convinced that he created the device
that will win the war for Heaven! If only his
superiors had been as discerning as The Game!
Of course, this assumes that the device is a
technological secret. Remember that even a relic/0 is
rare; a Gamester without Corporeal experience may
mistake a relic coffee machine or hair dryer for a
cutting edge breakthrough. The bemused Experimenter
needs to avoid humiliating the Asmodean; a Gamester is
a dangerous enemy. Best to give the Hound the item as
a bribe, assuring them that Technology is has just
released this 'new and improved' device.
Gamesters usually get nice bribes out of
Technologists. A casual remark suggesting that
Saminga's zombis are better than reanimated ones will
usually result in a gift of monsters to show the Hound
otherwise; Inventions are very useful when using
Humanity; and any piece of tech is greatly appreciated
if the Asmodean is targeted with Technophilia.
Finally, both The Game and Technology loathe Theft's
habit of making off with trinkets; but Technologists
can make life exceptionally difficult for Thieves.
During regular investigations, Gamesters will
challenge (but not test!) the Experimenter's security.
Will the building flash-fry an intruder? Why not? The
Wind is in town! Fix it now!
Besides, suppose the Vapulan catches a Thief: Lab 11
is always short of test subjects, yes?
