IN> [Asmodeus Month] Investigating Gluttony

Balseraphs of Gluttony have a brutally effective way
of increasing their power in Hell. They can impose
Gluttony on a demonling, and then taunt it with food
until it snaps and faces the Liar in a Will-War. Once
enslaved, the new Servant is ordered not to eat, and
food placed in front of it. Three disobeyed commands
later, the demonling has enough dissonance to turn
into a level of Discord: which it is ordered to add to
its Gluttony, permanently giving it Gluttony/1.
Addictions to caffeine and alcohol can then be added
at will. Powerful Gluttons can even use this trick on
full demons.

The Game didn't mind too much when this was used to
subdue the Orphans of Sloth and Oblivion, but has
ruthlessly punished attempts to use it on any demon in
the service of a Prince – the spread of celestial
Discord encourages demons to seek Redemption.

This earned Haagenti's ire, and Asmodeus' continual
war against Kobal means that a Gamester in Gluttonous
territory is likely to be served up on a plate.

Shrewd Asmodeans are careful to point out to Gobblers
that "since humans need to eat, demons who don't do
so regularly endanger the secrecy of the war!" This
makes sense to the Haagentians, and dobbing in enemies
– of whom Gluttony has no shortage – serves both Words
well. This is particularly effective on the ever
unpopular Thieves, who are constantly on the move, and
rarely have the time to waste locating local
restaurants.

The Hounds can then explain to the Gluttons that they
don't know the local eating customs, so perhaps the
Haagentians can ensure that they eat appropriately for
the region...remembering that they are used to the
best...and soon a Gobbler is bribing a Gamester with
fine food in return for the privilege of serving as a
snitch.

This happy state of affairs rarely lasts though.
Either the Glutton feels the need to poison, Geas or
Addict the Gamester, or the Asmodean must use the
Gobbler to put pressure on a Kobalite.
Hounds can reduce the likelihood of Addictions and
Geases by randomly swapping the meals they are
provided between themselves – the Lilim of Gluttony
Attunement is target specific, while most drugs
require large number of doses to cause an Addiction.
Poisons are rarely a serious threat to a Celestial:
swapping Vessels, going celestial or even seeking
mundane healing will deal with most. Besides, poison
is proof that the Glutton is a traitor: and there's a
quota to meet.
More serious is the need to take down a Jester. It's
best to have a Malphasian soften the Glutton up first.
However, sympathy for a Gobbler who has been the butt
of too many jokes can work wonders. Often seen as
stupid minions by their Kobalite 'allies', the
Haagentians can turn on the Jokers in a fit of rage –
giving the Hounds the chance to hurt Dark Humor. While
if the Glutton hasn't been the butt of enough jokes –
the Kobalite can be charged with failing to support
his Prince's Word.
