Any angel can be assigned to be a guard/protector to anything an Archangel
thinks the angel should be protecting. Mice can ride in pockets nicely...
The Kyriotate can't be Cherubically attuned, but there are Songs and
relics that might provide a useful substitute. Cherubim are _traditional_
guardian angels, but they're not the only angels who get given "guard this"
jobs.

It does indeed hold two meanings. I'd suggest that you explain that it's
a mystical -- Symphonic -- connection between two things. In the case of
the attunements Superiors hand out, it's a connection between a character
and a special power (which, in IN, is explained as a theme in the Symphony),
and in the case of an attuned Cherub, the connection is between the Cherub
and whatever it's connected to (frequently, but not always, a person).
So an attunement is a connection, and one type is a reward while the other
is a duty and innate Choir power.
That help?
