The Game bitterly complains about Renegades claiming
to serve Freedom while working as 'temps' for Lilith.
This encourages Renegades to do so, and simplifies
rounding them up.
Asmodeus loathes Freedom, and wants every Lilim bound
to a Prince: preferably a Prince he approves of. This
can get complicated for a Gamester, who must decide
whether it is better for a Lilim to remain Free or
swear to a Hostile Prince. Given that Lilith is allied
to Valefor, this problem continually crops up
reckless Lilim may even taunt Gamesters with the
question.
Although encouraging Lilim to serve Lust is the easy
option and allows for some pleasurable bribes
there are better options. The simplest is to arrest
any Tanstaafl who doesn't spend at least a few hours
every night asleep: the charge being 'endangering the
secrecy of the war'. Although the Lilim could spend
each evening lying around being bored, most will
reluctantly enter Beleth's realm and trade a few
favors. Beleth is likely to make her basic Rite a
reward for good service, drawing the Tempters into
long term relationships with Nightmares.
Casually mentioning that there are angels in town, and
that The War is the best place to learn to defend
yourself; pointing out that a Lilim of Secrets is
expected to pass herself off as a Free; that Kronos
knows the humans who have the most potential, ie those
most worth geasing all basic tricks. Blackmailing
the Lilim into helping the Gamesters creates a vicious
circle, as her aid is new blackmail information:
eventually the Tanstaafl may swear to Asmodeus to
break the loop.
Of course, the best recruiters are other Lilim any
Lilim sworn to a Prince is going to be asked what she
has done to recruit fellow Tempters to her Prince's
word. Successful recruiters are extremely valuable, so
smart gamesters will be careful to assist them in any
way they can if only by staying out of their way.
Even more important than recruiting is making sure
that the Lilim are convinced that they can't Redeem.
The best way to ensure this is to soul kill any
Tempter who learns otherwise possibly by arresting
her as a Renegade, possibly by hitting her with Rule
of Law and then soul-killing her in Beleth's realm
when she sleeps. Spreading the rumor that angels keep
Remnants of Lilim as trophies doesn't hurt either.
Lilim who feel oppressed by The Game are likely to
call on mother which they can do even if hit by Rule
of Law, if Lilith will answer an invocation from a
human. Shrewd Gamesters will make sure to drop all
charges *if* the Lilim takes a Geas/6 on the
invocation, and to play nice for at least a year
afterwards. After all, the Lilim is now more firmly
controlled by her Princess, and Lilith is less likely
to hold a grudge against the Hound if his actions have
earned her a Geas. If the Lilim needs to be
soul-killed, then ensuring she doesn't have any
essence needs to be done before starting otherwise
the risk of invocation is simply too great.
