Provided the Hammer isn't too large that you could fake pulling it out
of a pocket one solution would be to just summon it and hand it over
to the guard then resummon it later when you need it. That's why they

While I'm not sure getting someone to react sarcastically to a
truthful statement should be a revalations Rite the payoff of getting
them to ultimately realise the truth makes it worthwhile (thematically
and for entertainment value). Maybe the angel has three days for the
person to realise the truth of the situation or they do not gain a
point of essence on the third day to balance it out, so the initial
point is kind of an advance to make it easier to show the non-angel
the truth of the situation. If the non-angel does realise the truth
they get the extra essence as stated.
