Hmm. Oddly enough Jordi and one of the Impudite princes might work 
together on this. 

An animal that continued to kill prey when it was full might wipe out the
entire prey in the area. It is better not to kill and eat only what is
needed to survive (with a fat reserve) to make it more certain that the 
prey survives.

This gets into the entire question as to whether Saminga's word is really 
closer to Death or closer to Dying...
