Actually, the figment that continues on after the dreamer has awakened
is rare; for the most part, figments dissipate when the dreamer
awakens.

True enough. So take my initial premise and tweak it a bit: a
celestial spirit's nature is tied to its Celestial Forces; an ethereal
spirit's nature is tied to its Ethereal Forces. Symmetry would imply
that the nature of "corporeal spirits" (human and animal souls) would
be tied to Corporeal Forces - except that they're not, as ghosts
(particularly Will'o'Wisps and Apparitions) demonstrate.
