I see it as the actions of Oannes in the opening days of the War: GMG
indicates that around 11600 B.C., the Grigori are cast out, and then
notes that "The War is beginning in earnest, as angels and demons do
battle across the Earth, disturbing the Symphony and slaughtering many
humans," and that 2000 B.C. sees Abram (later, Abraham) found the
first monotheistic religion. The Flood, if it happened, had to occur
before Abraham; and Biblically, it occurred as a direct response to
the Grigoris' abuses (it would have been part of the effort to wipe
out the Grigoris' Nephallim children).

If the Flood occurred, then the Grigori apparently made a bigger mess
of the Earth through their wanton breeding than has thus far been
indicated - it's the only reason why I could see Heaven condoning such
a catastrophic means of purging the Nephallim from the Earth.
