If you presume that Soul Society is in a separate "celestial" realm, but
is a strictly human thing which celestials aren't "supposed" to be messing
with, you can actually do a pretty nice little IN/Bleach crossover, I think.

(Okay, I only did one short-fic bit of it, and that allowed a lot of 
handwaving, but it seemed to work quite nicely! Ohihime, reliever
of Flowers with little ethereal-spirit Servants! Ishida, Quincy of the
Sword!)
