I'd say that you automatically express your level of certainty that
something is to occur and to what level you expect to, and is prepared
to, interfere in order to make this come about (or not). You cannot
say "This will happen" - it is automatically something like "This is
very, very likely to happen unless I make a serious effort in order to
prevent it, but I won't."

Note, that it's not a weird think for a language to force it's
speakers to make such judgements - human languages have quite a few
examples of it... though probably not with such accuracy involved in
the expression...
