In America, perhaps.  In many other countries it's normal for perfectly 
modernized persons to eat with the hands, using bread (pitas, 
flatbreads of various sorts) as the most usual food-holder.  Also, I 
suspect he wouldn't alter chopsticks -- even the metal ones at some 
restaurants don't have any sharp bits to sharpen -- so high-end Asian 
places that haven't succumbed to the "fusion" mentality are probably 
safe for him.  Especially sushi joints.

Come on, Laurence is the most bishie Archangel of the lot.  Of course 
you'll see him slurping ramen, sipping tea, and savoring sushi in Japan 
-- when he needs to, at least.
