It is not selfless, and can be diabolically selfish, to expect others to 
behave
selflessly *for your own personal benefit*. Demon Princes do demand
sacrifices from their underlings, and not just in order to serve the cause
of Hell.

It is likely selfless to demand that others act selflessly for other 
people's
benefits, but can lead to serious problems. Voluntarily renouncing your
own possessions and giving all to the poor is very different from ordering
other people to abandon all their possessions. (Even assuming no
hypocrisy is involved. Demanding that other people renounce their
wealth while you keep yours is not selfless).
