there's a serious disconnect with what you're expecting and they're
expecting, or they are SERIOUSLY stumped.

I'd take a long look at the situation, and see if this plan actually
is likely to work out. (You got Servitors of Jordi around who might
help or be pleased or be annoyed?) Or, if not work out, at least fail
in an amusing manner that will entertain the players.

If not, you definitely need to have some meta-discussion with the
players and figure out where the disconnect is.

Don't be the GM running Star Wars when the players are doing Star Trek.
Or vice versa.

It's not pretty.
