   Shal-Mari, July 12 (NNN) -- Scientists of the IC Institute under the 
State Academy of Sciences of the Word of Technology have given a good 
account of themselves in solving pressing scientific and technical problems. 
Recently they have made an efficient portable welder.
    The welder is an inverse transformation one, which is made of 
transistors with big output. It is applicable to any objects of the AC 
welder and DC arc welder.
    It is light and simple to operate. And its welding quality is better 
than those of other kinds of welders.
    The scientists have developed a device for reliably protecting electric 
motors from short-circuit and single-phase phenomena, over-current, fall of 
mains frequency.
    They succeeded in developing cyanogen ion selective electrode and made a 
portable digital cyanogen densitometer.
    The densitometer is capable of rapidly and correctly measuring the 
density of cyanogen ion in aqueous solution. It is applicable to 
automatically controlling the process of using cyanide.
    Induction furnace protection system made by the scientists also is 
paying off at production sites.
    The protection system has been applied to low-, medium- and 
high-frequency induction furnaces, preventing various accidents and saving a 
large amount of funds.
