Well, if you have steam-punk technology, why not just have a flame
under/around a sealed sphere full of water? The intensity and size of
the eventual explosion would depend on the size and thickness of the
shell, just don't expect them to go off at a moment's notice...
I'd like to know where they are going to get the fuel and water for
their steam-drive in space though...
Not to mention the air to breathe(assuming they are not floating
around in some sort of a gaseous torus like in Integral Trees)
