This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

OHI Automated Heavy Lift Shuttle v1.0 (TL10)
Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer
The Automated Heavy Lift Shuttle transports 3,000 tons of cargo (and
up to 100 workers, who receive hardly more consideration than the bulk
freight) from the surface of a planet to orbital factories or transfer
stations.
The Heavy Lift Shuttle was built around the cargo bay and four large
fusion engines. The reaction mass tanks, avionics, and passengers were
fitted into the remaining spaces, mostly the nose and stub wings. The
shuttle needs starports with long, reinforced runways, but it provides
unmatched economy of scale ...
The four engines use 320,000 gallons of reaction mass per hour.
Subassemblies: Body +10, twenty retractable Wheels +5.
Powertrain: Four 4,000,000-lb. vectored fusion rockets; 150-kW RTG; two
360,000-kWs rechargeable E power cells.
Fuel: 120,000 gallons water.

two sets of precision navigation instruments; two transponders; two
inertial navigation systems; four C5 hardened minicomputers; two compact

Design Notes
Body is 480,000 cf, with lifting body and very good streamlining.
Wheels are 24,000 cf, retract into body. Structure is medium and
standard. Armor is standard composite. Sealed. Computerized controls.
There are 27,042 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 960,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata] and VXii (including the armor volume rule)
with the text format from Vehicles Lite.
Next Week: A TL5 truck, in preparation of a MRL.
