This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Nexa-V-class Light Lander v1.0 (TL10)
  Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer

The Nexa V is used as a surface-to-orbit transport in thinly settled
systems. The Light Lander was designed for moons or small planets with
little or no atmosphere. It can carry twenty tons of cargo and a dozen
passengers, in addition to the crew of three.
The Lander has a conical hull with two and a half decks - cockpit and
passenger cabin on top, cargo hold in the center, and tanks, engine and
landing gear in the 4' lower deck crawlspace. The fusion rocket gives 1
G acceleration, enough for worlds up to Mars size, and a delta-V of 49
km/s allows several landings between refueling stops.

The engine uses 1,600 gallons of reaction mass per hour.

Subassemblies: Body +6, six retractable Skids +2.
Powertrain: 80,000-lb. vectored fusion rocket; 100-kW RTG; two
  360,000-kWs rechargeable E power cells.
Fuel: 2,000 gallons water.
Occ: 3 RCS, 12 folding CS. Cargo: 2,000 cf.

Armor F RL B T U
Body: 4/50 4/50 4/50 4/50 4/50
Skids: 3/10 3/10 3/10 3/10 3/10

Equipment:
Body: Two very long range radios; long-range, tight-beam radio; four
5x LLTVs; two 160-mile radars; 16-mile radscanner; two flight data
recorders; two sets of precision navigation instruments; two
transponders; two inertial navigation systems; two C5 hardened
minicomputers; three terminals; cargo ramp; 2-man airlock; refueling
probe; cramped toilet; two 15x12 man-hour limited life systems.
External: Radiation shielding.

Statistics
Size: 16'x16'x24' Payload: 30 tons Lwt.: 40 tons
Volume: 4,000 cf Maint.: 4 man-hours Price: $832,700

HT: 9. HPs: 1,500 Body, 31 each Skid

sAccel: 1 to 1.3 Gs sMR: 1 Delta-V: 110,283 mph

Design Notes
Body is 4,000 cf, with very good streamlining. Skids are 200 cf,
retract into body. Structure is light and expensive. Armor is expensive
metal. Sealed. Computerized controls with duplicate maneuver controls.
There are 18.7 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 20,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A bigger shuttle.
