  This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the 
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial

  The 'double issue' of this week presents the same ship twice, once as 
a Vehicles design and once with the new Spaceships rules. The Spaceship 
is considerably larger than the Vehicle -- 12,000 tons 'rounded up' to 
30,000 tons -- but deep down they represent the same ship.

  The Assault Transport carries a squadron of six dropships and eighteen 
gunships and a heavily reinforced space marine company over interstellar 
distances. A single Transport is not much against a developed world, but 
there are places in the galaxy where one ship can make a difference ...
  The Transport has two hangar bays, a dorsal bay for the gunships and a 
ventral bay for the dropships. A ramp from the cargo hold to the ventral 
hangar allows the rapid loading of ground vehicles. She mounts powerful 
hyperdrives to keep up with naval task forces, stealth systems to avoid 
detection, and point defense lasers in case the stealth fails. The crew 
quarters are distributed in between, into any remaining spaces. 
  The fusion reactors can recharge one laser shot every 3.2 seconds.

  six 40,000-ton hyperdrives; four 720,000-kW fusion reactors; twelve 
  7,500,000,000-kWs rechargeable power cells.

Design Notes
  Body is 1,200,000 cf, with total compartmentalization and underbelly 
skids. Structure is extra-heavy, expensive. Armor is expensive laminate. 
Self-sealing. Computerized controls with quadruple maneuver controls. 
15,253 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 16,000,000 lbs.

  The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third 
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume 
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.
