This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

HeliVan v1.0 (TL8)
  Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer

Some science fiction writers predicted ubiquitous personal helicopters
by the late 20th century. This never happened in the real world, but the
HeliVan can be used for games in these settings.
The HeliVan has two seats in front and a multirole cargo area with six
folding seats in the rear. It could carry a large family, or a craftsman
with the tools of the trade. At modest power from the twin turbines, the
HeliVan can cruise 290 miles at 120 mph.
The turbines burn 33 gallons of fuel per hour at routine speed. A
tank of diesel is $96.

Subassemblies: Body +3, four retractable Wheels +0, Top-and-Tail Rotor
  +0.
Powertrain: 600-kW top and tail rotor drivetrain; two 300-kW standard
  gas turbines; 20,000-kWs advanced battery.
Fuel: 80 gallons diesel (fire 7).

Design Notes
Body is 300 cf, with fair streamlining. Wheels are 15 cf, retract into
body. Rotor is 6 cf, folding. Structure is light and standard. Armor is
standard composite. Electronic controls with duplicate maneuver
controls. There are 7.9 cf of empty space in the body. Empty weight is
2,400 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume and
ceiling rules) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A larger variant.
