This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

HeliCycle v1.0 (TL8)

Some science fiction writers predicted ubiquitous personal helicopters
by the late 20th century. This never happened in the real world, but the
HeliCycle can be used for games in these settings.
The small helicopter has just two seats, mounted side by side for good
view. A multifuel turbine in the rear provides power for 225 miles at 95
mph. The avionics are minimal, a radio and a transponder for air traffic
control and a GPS and autopilot to hold the course.
The turbines burn 8.25 gallons of fuel per hour at routine speed. A
tank of diesel is $24.

Subassemblies: Body +2, three retractable Wheels -1, Top-and-Tail Rotor
  -1.
Powertrain: 150-kW TTR rotor drivetrain; 150-kW standard gas turbine;
  750-kWs advanced battery.
Fuel: 20 gallons diesel (fire 7).
Occ: 1 CCS, 1 CS. Cargo: 4 cf.

Design Notes
Body is 75 cf, with fair streamlining. Wheels are 3.75 cf, retract
into body. Rotor is 1.5 cf. Structure is extra-light and standard. Body
and wheel armor is standard metal, rotor armor is standard composite.
Electronic controls. There are 6.8 cf of empty space in the body. Empty
weight is 600 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume and
ceiling rules) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A larger version.
