[gurps] Traveller to buy or not to buy?

Depends.

* If you like Traveller, FFE is a good way to get the old stuff. (I have
  most of their reprints.) But when all is said and done, we are talking
  about  a historical system, and the rules for water worlds are not 
  even remotely as detailed as newer stuff like Blue Planet or GURPS
  TS:Under Pressure.

* If you like Traveller or if you want an incredibly detailed, pre-made 
  SF background, GURPS 3E Traveller is nice to have. But getting a 
  complete, printed collection will be rather expensive these days. 
  SJG sells at least some as PDF, but for me that isn't the same as a 
  book on the gaming table ...

* If you want to play Traveller with GURPS 4E rules, Interstellar Wars
  is a good starter, but it is set 3,000 years BEFORE classic Traveller.
