This sort of moronic behavior comes up on every RPG list I am on.
People wish to make realistic worlds with politics, religions,
economies and laws that make good sense but often are not normal, AKA
same as what people grew up believing in.
Always someone complains about it. But on the other hand how can you
explore what is realistic without comparing it to what you know? The
trick is to use examples without judgment about it and keep it as
abstract as possible. If it is correct or not morally good or not best
avoided, try to give pros and cons, A very hard rope to walk on, but
REALLY important to good design. One list I was on told the list mon
to bug off and he did at about the same point this tread is at. We
made it through without a flame war developing and all was really good
and deep. The one complainer was told to bug off and he did too. I
think we learned a lot. It can be done and those subjects are VERY
relevant to good RPG world design!
