This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Nexa-IV-class Light Deep Space Vehicle v1.0 (TL10)
  Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer

The Nexa IV DSV is used as deep space transport in systems with a low
population density. The little Nexa IV has a lower total operating cost
than many more efficient but larger Deep Space Vehicles.
The hull consists of three spherical sections, holding the main cargo
bay and docking airlock, the quarters and flight deck, and the reaction
mass tanks, engine and life support. The primary life support is a full
hydroponic air/water/food recycler, with an air/water system as backup.
The fusion-powered engine provides a delta-V of 85 km/s at the nominal
load and twice as much running light.
The engine uses 400 gallons of reaction mass per hour.

Subassemblies: Body +6.
Powertrain: 20,000-lb. vectored fusion rocket; two 200-kW RTGs; six
  360,000-kWs rechargeable E power cells.
Fuel: 4,000 gallons water.
Occ: 3 bridge RCS, 10 bunks. Cargo: 2,000 cf.

Armor F RL B T U
Body: 4/20 4/20 4/20 4/20 4/20

Equipment:
  Body: Extreme-range radio; extreme-range, tight-beam radio; two
160-mile, air-search radars; 16-mile radscanner; 200x astronomical
LLTV; flight data recorder; precision navigation instruments; two
transponders; two inertial navigation systems; two C5 hardened
minicomputers; three terminals; compact fire suppression system; 2-man
airlock; refueling probe; 10-man total life system; 10-man full life
system; 2,000 man-days of provisions. External: Radiation shielding.

Statistics
Size: 15'x15'x45' Payload: 40 tons Lwt.: 50 tons
Volume: 5,000 cf Maint.: 3 man-hours Price: $519,900

HT: 7. HPs: 750 Body

sAccel: 0.2 to 0.3 Gs sMR: 0.25 Delta-V: 191,821 mph

Design Notes
Body is 5,000 cf. Structure is extra-light and expensive. Armor is
expensive metal. Sealed. Ultralight tanks. Computerized controls.
There are 459.3 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 20,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A lander for moons or small worlds.
