Seriously speaking, the GURPS 3E technology path goes something like
now, cyberpunk, easy interplanetary travel, easy interstellar travel. So
by the time you get to fight aliens, you're TWO TLs beyond cyberpunk.
A lot of SF has interstellar travel without a better-than-cyberpunk tech,
even if it isn't 50s pre-computer stuff.
