Yes, a good mail user agent is still immensely better for reading
discussions than any web application, especially when the discussions
are many and varied. Threading, kill-files, full text editing,
standard message protocols, efficient message transfer, all these
advantages and more are not to be found in a web application.
I would be overjoyed if the SJ Games forums were to be made available
via NNTP, since then I could use a standard, flexible newsreader of my
choice to get much of the same power of a mail user agent.
The web forum application, though, is hideously inflexible and
cumbersome to use.
