I don't commonly read the forums despite the fact they are organized.
I find that since they are so busy that I can't keep up with them, and there are too many me too! statements. The mailing list, even at 200+ messages is something I like better.
It allows me to read what I want based on the subjects, and I don't have to go out of my way to save the messages I want to keep. Plus the fact, as Hal pointed out, sometimes you end up contributing to topics you didn't think you'd have anything to say on.
I wasn't ever that active on the pyramid newsgroup either - except in the occasional play-test discussion. Thus existence of news group, and forums don't effect me one way or the other.... but I'd really hate to see the mailing list die completely.
