This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Planetary Defense Submarine v1.0 (TL9)
  Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer

The Planetary Defense Submarine uses the oceans of earthlike worlds to
hide from enemy starships. The Submarine cruises up to 2,000 m below the
waves, waiting for the order to launch swarms of missiles from periscope
depth or to fire laser beams from the surface. The highly automated sub
requires only ten crew, mostly for routine maintenance, and it can stay
on patrol for many months.
A full load of ammunition and provisions is $39,168,000.
The submarine might fit into Traveller games where contragrav is less
effective (or more expensive) than described by GURPS Traveller.

The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (the armor volume rule) with
the text format from Vehicles Lite. The design decisions assume that the
ladar detection rules from TS:Under Pressure are used.

Next Week: A mag-lev maintenance car.
