  During the Long Night, the planet Sonthert lost most technology. Some 
historical knowledge was retained, along with a fair amount of paranoia 
about invaders from outer space. 
  The Gunned ATV is the armed and armored variant of a heavy truck. The 
body is armored with 14mm steel plates, sloped in front to resist gauss 
rifles or ACRs. The armament consists of four 36mm QF Guns, supposed to 
penetrate powered battledress, in casemates with a combined 360° field 
of fire. A large cargo compartment holds either an infantry section or 
fuel, spares and toolkits for long patrols.
  The internal combustion engine and the suspension stretch the limits 
of the industrial base, which leads to frequent breakdowns. The Gunned 
All-Terrain Vehicle performs well in an internal security role, but it 
is no effective combat vehicle.
  At travel speed, the engine burns 24 gallons of gasoline per hour. A 
full load of fuel and ammunition is $300.

Powertrain: 400-kW wheeled drivetrain; 400-kW gasoline engine; 6,000-kWs
  lead-acid battery.
Fuel: 600 gallons gasoline (fire on 12).

Design Notes
  Cheaply made. Body is 2,000 cf with 60° F slope. Wheels are 1,500 cf 
(increased volume). Structure is medium and expensive. Armor is 
expensive metal. Mechanical controls. 72.85 cf of empty space. 200 
rounds of 36mm solid are stored in the body. Empty weight is 50,000 lbs.

  The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third 
printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi and VXii (armor volume) with the text 
format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller background affects the design 
decisions, not the technology.
