  This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Salvage Pod v1.0 (TL9)
  Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer

  Once space travel becomes common, there will be a need for deep space
vehicles like this Salvage Pod. The Pod has two telescoping arms, three
fusion engines and a crew bubble, clustered around the central reaction
mass tank. In theory the delta-V is some 132 kps, but Salvage Pods tend
to stay close to a base ship or station. The sensors are optimized for
close range work and life support lasts for only 12 hours.

Subassemblies: Body +3, two Arms +0.
Powertrain: 12,000-lb. vectored fusion rocket; two 3,000-lb. vectored
  fusion rockets; two 270,000-kWs rechargeable power cells.
Fuel: 400 gallons water.
Occ: 1 NCS.

Equipment:
  Body: Two medium range radios; two 1-mile, high-resolution imaging
radars; 1-mile thermograph; navigation instruments; two transponders;
two inertial navigation systems; two C3 small, hardened computers;
terminal; 12 man-hours limited life system. Arms: ST 900 extendable
arm motors.

HT: 12. HPs: 300 Body, 90 each Arm.

sAccel: 2.5   sMR: 2.5   Delta-V 295,029 mph

Design Notes
  Body is 180 cf. Arms are 10 cf. Structure is standard, medium. Armor
is advanced composite. Sealed. Tanks are light. Computerized controls.
There are 20.34 cf of empty space in the body and 4.42 cf in each arm.
Empty weight is 3,600 lbs.
  The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd
printing, Dec 2004 errata] and VXii (including the armor volume rule)
with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A variant with jury-rigged armament.
