Depends very much on the audience and how they are used in play. 
For actions IN a ship, you need the deckplan, and for combat and
other potentially damaging situations I'd suggest an annotated 
VE2nd format. Sure, the writeup gets lengthy if you list the DR
and HP of every little gadget, but for a PC ship that is useful.
