This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Sternmetal Type 12c Minerbot v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL10)
Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer
The Sternmetal Minerbot series is used on inhospitable planets. The
Type 12a sets explosive charges, the Type 12b removes the ore and the
Type 12c lays tracks in the newly cleared tunnel. A central computer
coordinates a swarm of semi-independent robots.
Each Type 12c Minerbot carries three two-yard sections of track. It
uses two manipulator arms to set them on the ground and to expand the
rails it uses. A spotlight and two cameras allow binocular vision in
dark tunnels.
Each two-yard section of electrified track is 400 lbs. and $2,000.
Subassemblies: Body +2, four Railway Wheels –1, two Arms -1.
Powertrain: 6.25-kW wheeled drivetrain; 7.5-kW contact power.

each. Structure is medium, cheap, robotic. Armor is cheap metal. Sealed.
4.64 cf of empty space in the Body and 1.83 cf of empty space in each
Arm. Empty weight is 800 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from GURPS Vehicles [2nd edition,
3rd printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi, VXii (the armor volume rule) and
the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller background affects
the design decisions, not the technology.
Next Week: A sensor station for Traveller.
