Yes, I'm sure that those spinal mounts are what I intended.  The energy 
phasing surface takes the place of a turret, therefore letting you build 
MUCH bigger energy weapons.

I think it is more likely that people will need hardware items during 
disaster relief or colonization than biological "manufacturing". Those items 
are likely to be quite large.  But doubling the current number/type of 
bio-tanks is not that big a deal.  Also, if you need more chrysallis 
machines, you can just MAKE them.
