A star of stars to link the servers (probably a major space station as 
the central hub), and the connection from server to user is wireless, 
which means that anything but a star is nonsense unless relays are 
necessary for extended range. (Why retransmit if the server can 
receive directly?)

Meshes make sense if the individual transmission range is low, 
which could be a feature rather than a bug if you want to keep 
the power requirements low or if you want to use the same 
frequency in many local 'cells', but with mature TL8 and less 
than a couple thousand wireless users within the area that is 
no problem.
