This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Anachronistic Submarine v1.0 (TL6)
  Copyright 2008 by Onno Meyer

In some alternate history stories, one side finds efficient uses for
historical technologies. In other novels, genuine time travelers bring
modern concepts with them. Last but not least, villains of pulp action
stories can come up with the most amazing headquarters vehicles ...
Unlike most historical designs, the Anachronistic Submarine operates
submerged at all times, either snorkling or using batteries. The power
and air last for five days at 5 mph, or two hours at 20 mph (17 knots).
The boat has eight torpedo tubes, capable of launching cruise missiles
in addition to homing torpedoes. Usually one or two tubes are reserved
for self-defense torpedoes while launching missiles, so it can fire a
salvo of six or seven missiles. The small dock aft of the fin can hold
one or two swimmer delivery vehicles.
In a cliffhangers game, the Archvillain could menace the world with
deadly missiles until the Heroes can sneak aboard in a supply SDV. In
an alternate history game, Anachronistic Subs could carry the fight
back across the Pacific after a loss of Pearl Harbor.
The engines burn 100 gallons of diesel per hour at 10 mph routine
speed. A full load of fuel, ammunition and provisions is $8,335,200.

Subassemblies: Body +8, Superstructure +6.

Design Notes
Body is 76,000 cf, with total compartmentalization and submarine
lines. Superstructure is 4,000 cf, with total compartmentalization.
Structure is extra-heavy, expensive, submersible. Armor is expensive
metal. Mechanical controls with duplicate maneuver controls and
duplicate diving controls. 10 cf of empty space in the body and 1,230
cf of empty space in the superstructure. 15 WG/ASH torpedoes, 15 WG/PSH
torpedoes and 18 missiles are stowed in the body. Empty weight is
4,000,000 lbs. Lwt will be increased by a SDV, but submerged weight
remains unchanged.

the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: Back to the interrupted scout series, with a little shuttle.
